In the late eighteenth century, the chaos of the French Revolution incited those of rank in that country to flee to neighboring states with more amicable climes. Unfortunately, in their flight to fair England, these continentals brought with them a most nasty scourge; Zombie Apocalypse. Yes, it seems that, on his misadventure to Egypt, that Napoleon fellow imported quite the affliction. It is your job to figure how English society may be maintained throughout this crisis. Portraying characters from Jane Austen’s beloved novels, delegates are tasked with entertaining or thwarting these undead marauders.
Topic 1 - Control Spread
The social scene of Regency England is governed by a number of essential laws of propriety and common decency. The vile zombies have been exploiting these necessary rules and regulations so as to wet their inexhaustible appetites for flesh, swelling their numbers and posing an existential threat to the English social order. It is the duty of this committee to determine how these dastardly tactics may be impeded, ideally without disregarding basic virtues.
Topic 2: A Royal Coronation
The Mad King is dead! Following an extensive mourning period for his… kindly remembered father, George, Prince of Wales, is soon to ascend the throne of England. His coronation has been set for July 21st, 1821, and it is imperative that all those who endeavor to safely sail the seas of English social life be in attendance. Of course, it is also necessary to the stability of His Majesty’s Land that this event proceeds with all of the vital trappings and none of the potential pitfalls. You lot have been brought together for your historic aptitude for propriety to ensure the sanctity of this event. Or, if some of you may place personal enrichment and entertainment over the benefit of your homeland, you should, at the very least, ensure it’s a memorable affair as you slight each other. Most importantly, have fun! After all, it’s a party! And one cannot have too large a party!
Committee Procedures
This committee will be run following Specialized Agency Parliamentary Procedure. Debate will be primarily organized using moderated caucuses, unmoderated caucuses, and speaker’s list. Unlike a General Assembly, delegates should not expect to set an order of topics through voting in Committee Session I—all topics are up for debate. Borrowing crisis elements—as is the norm for a Specialized Agency—delegates will be expected to continuously complete rounds of public directives that will respond to crisis updates. Delegates will NOT be writing working papers or draft resolutions.
