PACKET: United Nations Security Council

non-novice specialized agency

In the aftermath of the Second World War, the United Nations was established to institutionalize peace and to propagate the concept of human rights. The UN Security Council was established to forcefully protect these efforts. Now, divided against itself amidst the growing Soviet-West conflict, the UNSC must face its first test: the invasion of South Korea by its Northern counterpart under the leadership of Kim Il-Sung. How will this new institution respond to this emerging crisis, and how will international powers hope to promote their proclaimed values in the midst of a conflict?
